What a quick turn-around we are facing this week. Luckily for the Texans, IND isnt any good this year. HOU’s playoff position is locked and these last two matchups don’t matter too much. That is partly why Im starting Ben Tate tonight. I expect HOU to get the win, which will be this first time in franchise history that they’ve defeated the Colts twice in one season. What a difference Peyton Manning makes. Maybe some are justified in their thought of Manning for MVP. We thought Peyton was good for 5 to 6 wins each season, but now it looks as if he may have been worth 15…
Owen Daniels and Kevin Walter should each have good games tonight. But, that all depends on Yates’ ability to stay upright and deliver the ball. As I mentioned above, I also like Tate & Foster to start tonight.
As for the Colts, Reggie Wayne &/or Pierre Garcon should see some solid looks. If HOU has any real weakness defensively, it is in the secondary. I dont imagine either of these receivers will replicate numbers like Garcon against TB or Wayne against NE, but Id start them over a handful of other WR2′s.
I feel there is some real value in HOU -6.5. The number is lower than I believe it should be due to HOU’s loss at home last week, the Colts win @ home last week, and HOU having already defeated IND in week 1. The low spread projection may also be due to HOU possibly resting their starters late, which would give IND the opportunity to score as they had in NE. The Over is 40 and it will not be exceeded. SO, my WinningFF pick for tonight’s game is HOU -6.5 and the under. I see the final score here being 24-10 or 24-13. The possibility of 24-17 seems easily achievable, but I believe HOU defense will play much better this week with Wade Philips back.
